the five elements project...

For this project, I drew from references, allusion, and symbology derived from art sources both historical and modern, natural and mythological to create five allegorical pieces inspired by the five elements.
I have explored the effects that beauty has on a contemporary viewer wishing to draw them in to my works, using references and whimsy to engage the viewer’s imagination, curiosity, and discovery.
Drawing from the mystical and romantically alluring style of Edward Burne-Jones, I hope to have achieved my intention to use glass and the capture of light to portray idyllic illustrations of the classical elements.
